This impacts companies and Refugee Status Employees in significant ways. Imagine if company managers became abreast of the unique giftings of their Refugee Status Employees and were able to utilize such skills to solve factory-wide problems/challenges that had previously been outsourced. For example, imagine a refugee from Ukraine with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering earned in their home country who presently works in the packaging department. What if they could serve the company on an as needed basis when the factory would typically contract with an outside firm to address a technical problem within their scope of training?

Cultural Disruption and Employment Impact

Research on the impact of acculturative stress on the refugee population is well documented. With access to (or acceptance of) foundational support reducing once a refugee passes the 90-day of securing employment window, mounting challenges manifest financially, socially, psychologically, linguistically, academically, physically, and spiritually; all of which can negatively impact employment.
